Croutons

Croutons ready to be baked
Croutons made from a loaf of homemade wheat and rye bread.

Start with bread which has become slightly stale. Cut the bread into thick slices, then cut the slices into cubes.

Drizzle on oil, enough to moisten the cubes slightly.  I used about 3 Tb of olive oil for a panful of bread cubes.

Sprinkle in some kosher salt and herbs if wanted.

Spread the cubes out on a pan

Bake in a 300 F oven for 20 minutes or more (need to watch it after 20 minutes.)
